This unique exposure provides the foundation for creativity and critical thinking, plus encourages a connection to the world around them.

What's better than just looking through a kaleidoscope? Why, shooting through one of course! Come experiment and create cool effects by taking pictures through mirror-lined kaleidoscopes large enough to place your camera inside. Also, have fun taking photos using apps that allow you to turn any image into a upside-down and spin-around masterpiece! Capture fractured views, reflect cool angles, and multiply textured surfaces to make unique, one-of-a-kind images.
build your very own kaleidoscope!
As an added bonus, build your own multi-colored kaleidoscope to take home. Get ready to twist and turn your way to cool photos!
PAST FAMILY FUN EVENTS
MESSAGES OF LOVE: CUSTOM VALENTINES
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1-3PM
Come make a custom Valentine's Day greeting card featuring the one and only you! Choose from a variety of messages and signs, hold them up for the camera, and then print out your photos and add to cardstock. You can also create special accordion-style 3-D cards, plus Cupid's Heart arrow cards to give to family and friends.
All of our participants were eager to design a special card and offer their thoughts of love, encouragement and thanks!
a "message" from our programming director:
I always appreciate seeing families come together to share in a creative learning experience. But our "Messages of Love" activity was designed to take the level of engagement one step further, combining an artistic activity with an opportunity to give back to the men and women who served in our nation's armed forces. I'm grateful for the opportunity to present these programs, and for each and every family that attends and makes it a success! Regarding this particular event, I would like to offer a hearfelt "thanks" to all the children who made Valentine's Day cards for our Art in Action participants, which includes veterans currently attending classes here at Daytona State College as well as those from the local community.
PAPER BLOOMS: DECORATIVE FLOWER VASES
SATURDAY, MAY 13, 1-3PM
Come make a personalized flower vase that is bursting with colorful paper blooms and pictures of you! Choose from a variety of flower types–you can mix and match colors and styles– and embellish with buttons, ribbon and glitter. Best of all, your portrait and sunny smile will peek out from the center of the vase, making it a great gift for Mother's Day or add a touch of springtime cheer to any room.
