Since the origins of the genre in the early 1960’s, surf films have taken many forms from documentaries to loose, experimental ramblings and from innovative “road” movies to spectacular pieces of cinematic art. THE SEEDLING February 10 at 6:00 pm Dir. Woodshed Films/Campbell (USA, 1999) 64 min. This is the first surfing film from Thomas Campbell. A movie about the beauty of longboard riding and all its appendages. Shot in 16mm film, The Seedling documents a small crew of California longboard riders and is shot on location in Mexico, France, California, New York and the Canary Islands. |

COME HELL OR HIGH WATER March 23 at 7:30 pm (double feature) Dir. Keith Malloy (USA, 2011) 35 min. The film explores the history and progression of the sport of bodysurfing and the pureness that comes from riding a wave. Shot primary in 16mm, the film takes a unique look at the culture, beauty and simplicity of the sport, capturing the stories and locations of those who belong to this community. |

ONE TRACK MIND April 6 at 6:00 pm (double feature) Dir. Chris and Emmett Malloy/Lynch (USA, 2008) 41 min. The film features a series of historic surf adventures spanning several generations of surfers whose common focus is to be the best at what they do. The opening sessions include some of the most inspirational and successful wave riders ever, including five former world champions — Tom Curren, Mark Occhilupo, Sunny Garcia, CJ Hobgood and Andy Irons. |
